Jalandhar Cantonment

Jalandhar is one of the oldest cities of northern India. Similarly, Jalandhar Cantonment area is also known for its ancient antiquity in India. This cantonment was established by British after the first Anglo Sikh war of 1848. It is situated in typical landscaped area likewise other cantonments in the country. The region is mostly occupied by Rajasthani natives and Gupta family who were among the first arrivals, are quite famous in this region. Therefore this region is also called as Gupta city.

Jalandhar Cantonment is situated adjacent to the city area which is well connected through Cantt railway station and NH 1. The Jalandhar Cantt railway station is situated 2 km from Cantonment while Jalandhar City railway station is at 5 kilometers distance. Many major express trains are passing through these railway stations. Hence it is quite easy to locate and reach this place for tourism. Its nearest airport is in Amritsar which is 89 kilometers from the Jalandhar Cantonment. Grand Trunk road is well connecting both the places making effortless approach to this region.
